The legendary Pwn2Own hacking competition is back - and this time, cars are in the spotlight.
What is Pwn2Own?
Pwn2Own is a world-class hacking event, first launched in 2007. It gathers the best ethical hackers and security researchers from around the globe. Competitors race against time to find zero-day vulnerabilities - security flaws unknown to the software or hardware vendor.
This Year’s Twist - Automotive Focus
For the second year in a row, Trend Micro’s Zero-Day Initiative has dedicated an entire Pwn2Own event to automobiles. From January 22–24, in Tokyo, hackers tested their skills on connected cars, EV systems, and more.
Tesla In The Crosshairs
On Day 1, Tesla was one of the top targets.

Why It Matters
Last year, hackers at Pwn2Own Automotive earned a jaw-dropping $1.3 million+ across 3 days.Discoveries like these are not malicious - instead, they give companies like Tesla a chance to patch flaws before real attackers can exploit them.
With modern cars being as much computers on wheels as vehicles, securing them is more important than ever.
